Dav City Administrator Search Committee

WVIK Staff

A committee has been chosen to find a new city administrator for Davenport. This morning, Mayor Bill Gluba announced the 11 people he's appointed, to replace Craig Malin who resigned under pressure last month.

Complying with city code, he chose four aldermen, and 7 other members representing the city - from business, labor, and religion.

Gluba says he and the committee will meet soon and decide on qualifications, and how to conduct the search. Eventually it will submit three names to him, then his choice must be approved by the city council.

The mayor says one of the key qualifications he's looking for is stability.

Stability is key factor in an organization's success.

He hopes Davenport will have a new, permanent city administrator within 3 to 4 months.

Committee members include:

- Greg Lundgren, president of Ryan Companies, Caroline Ruhl, president and co-owner of Ruhl and Ruhl, Rory Washburn, executive director of Tri-City Building Trades, Tara Barney, president and ceo of the QC Chamber of Commerce, Karl Rhomberg, member of the Davenport Levee Commission and former alderman, Sister Mary Ann Vogel, from the Congregation of the Humility of Mary, and Bishop Jimmie Horton, founder of Gospel Mission Temple in Davenport.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
