Bettendorf Considers Sports Complex

Sports, fitness, and recreation will be the focus Monday night for the Bettendorf city council. A consultant, Sports Facility Advisors, will present results of two feasibility studies.

One was a study of the Life Fitness Center, Splash Landing, and community center, while the second looked at the possibility of building a sports complex near the intersection of I-80 and Middle Road.
Economic Development Director, Jeff Reiter, says the sports complex might be used for basketball, soccer, volleyball, wrestling, and other indoor sports.
Originally hockey was included in the proposed sports complex, but Reiter says it was dropped because it would be too expensive.

The results of the study might help city leaders decide sometime in the future whether to go head with the project.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
