From now on, a key member of the Moline police department will be well protected while on duty. Luna, the canine officer, now has a bullet and stab resistant vest.
It was donated to the department by a non-profit organization in Massachusetts, Vested Interest in K9's, and the manufacturer, Armor Express in Michigan.
Each vest costs 950 dollars and has a five-year warranty.
Since it was founded in 2009, Vested Interest in K9's says it's provided more than 13-hundred vests for law enforcement dogs across the country.
Wearing her new vest, Luna's first assignment is to help the Moline Police Benevolent Association raise money for Noah Stone - the 5 year old Moline residents needs a service dog to help him attend school.
