Protection for Moline's K9 Officer

Moline Police Department

Thanks to a non-profit organization in Massachusetts, a member of the Moline Police Department will be well-protected on the job. The department has received a ballistic vest for its K-9 officer, Luna, a Belgian Malinois.

The gift comes from the organization, Vested Interest in K9's, and the manufacturer, Armor Express, in Michigan.
Luna's handler, officer Jon Genisio says the vest will help protect the dog when dealing with armed suspects.
Since Vested Interest in K9's was founded in 2009, donations of more than 1 million dollars have paid for ballistic vests for more than 12-hundred law enforcement dogs across the country.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
