Family, friends, and former colleagues and co-workers said good-by today to Lane Evans. The former congressman from Rock Island, who represented western Illinois for 24 years, died last week.
After a funeral in Sacred Heart Cathedral in Moline, the former Marine received full military honors at his burial in the National Cemetery on Arsenal Island.
At what he called "a terrible time," his brother Doyle Evans says it's been a wonderful experience to hear from so many people who loved him.
Doyle Evans says Lane was a great brother and a great person, and a Congressman "unlike any other."

Lane Evans was first elected to Congress in 1982, and served until his retirement for health reasons in 2006. After a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease, he died last week at the age of 63.
