Rock Island Arson Arrest

Rock Island Police Department

Nearly one month after a fire severely damaged several buildings in downtown Rock Island, police have made an arrest. 34 year old Jason Anderson of Rock Island was taken into custody this morning, and is charged with two counts of arson.

The fire broke out on September 27th in the 200-block of 18th Street, and displaced several businesses and downtown residents.
With help from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the Rock Island police and fire departments determined the fire was deliberately set.

Anderson was arrested at his home, and his bond is set at 100,000 dollars.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Rock Island police or Crimestoppers.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
