Rock River Rising

National Weather Service
the Rock River at Moline, Tuesday morning

Thanks to a lot of rain in recent days, the Rock River is rising.

Tuesday at Joslin it's 2.7 feet over flood stage after rising nearly two feet since Saturday. And the National Weather Service says it's expected to crest at three feet over flood stage on Wednesday, then begin to fall.

Downstream at Moline, the Rock is 1.8 feet over flood stage after rising nearly two feet since the weekend. It should reach two feet over flood stage by Wednesday and Thursday, then begin to fall, and drop at least two feet by Sunday.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
