Moderate Flooding By Next Week

National Weather Service
midday Thursday 3/19/20 in the Quad Cities

By this time next week, the Mississippi River will be over flood stage in the Quad Cities, and in locations upstream.

The National Weather Service says during the past two weeks, the river has risen five feet at Dubuque, and is now two feet below flood stage. It's expected to go over flood stage by half a foot by next Thursday.

In the Quad Cities at Lock and Dam 15, the river has come up four feet during the past two weeks, reaching nearly two feet below flood stage Thursday. By next Thursday, it's forecast to rise three feet, to one foot over flood stage - that's considered moderate flooding in this area.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
