River Levels Continue Above Flood Stage

National Weather Service
the Miss. R. in the QC Friday afternoon 10/11/19

Thanks to more rain in recent weeks, river levels around the Quad Cities are still above flood stage and not likely to fall much through next week.

The National Weather Service says the Mississippi River here is still two feet above flood stage after reaching that level last weekend. The forecast is for it to rise a couple of tenths of a foot through Monday, and then begin to fall slowly.

The forecast is similar for Muscatine - it's two feet over flood stage and should rise slowly through Tuesday then begin to fall.

Along the Rock River at Joslin, it's dropped nearly one foot since Tuesday and is now three feet over flood stage. And it should drop another foot in the coming week.

It's fallen half a foot at Moline this week, and is now 1 1/2 feet over flood stage.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
