Dubuque and the Army Corps of Engineers will work together to develop a master plan for the city's waterfront. The two signed an agreement last week.
Assistant City Manager Teri Goodmann says they've been working on the agreement for two years, and preparing the master plan will cost 196,000 dollars - with half from the Corps of Engineers and half from Dubuque.
"And we will provide both in-kind staff time and studies that we have already paid for through our work on the riverfront and we will share with the Corps. But also it would involve some of our budgeted money for some projects that might be part of the study."
Goodmann says the study will focus on three areas: eco-system restoration, how to enhance recreation along the Mississippi River, and possible future uses for the material dredged from the river.
