Help with your spring cleaning will be provided next month by the Rock Island County Waste Management Agency. It will hold an electronic collection "event" on April 18th at the county fairgrounds in East Moline.
Staff coordinator, Laura Berkley, says since 2011 the agency has been able to hold one or two these events each year. And at each one, up to 800 cars have come through, and dropped off 70 to 95,000 pounds of electronics for recycling.
Berkley says the most common items dropped off for recycling are televisions and computers, but local residents also can get rid of micro-wave ovens, dvd players, and a variety of other electronics.
The collection is only open to Illinois residents, but not businesses, and the list of items NOT accepted includes appliances and compact fluorescent light bulbs.
