Rubio Rallies QC Republicans

WVIK Staff

The world will be safer and more prosperous if the United States is the strongest nation on the planet. That was the message Tuesday night from Florida US Senator Marco Rubio to a republican fund-raiser in Bettendorf.

As the keynote speaker for the Scott County Republican Party's annual Ronald Reagan dinner, Rubio says Reagan understood the US must be leader.

And he thinks there's chaos around the world now because the Obama administration believes US leadership is the cause of global problems.

Rubio also attacked democrats for their reliance on big government to solve our problems - because the real answer is less government.

Rubio was first elected to the Senate in 2010, after serving 8 years in the Florida House.

More than 600 people attended the event, and also heard from all the major statewide candidates,  including the governor, lieutenant governor, senate, and congress,

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
