Search Narrows for New Bettendorf Superintendent

The Bettendorf school board is preparing to take the next step in its search for a new superintendent. Tuesday night, its consultant will meet with the board in private session and provide it with a list of eight to twelve possible candidates.

A total of 44 applications were received.

Board President Adam Holland says they will probably narrow the list to two, and invite those two for interviews early next month. That would include a community forum and meetings for the finalists with various groups in the school district and the community.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
