One year, and 9 1/2 million dollars later, a major construction project has been completed at United Township High School in East Moline. Monday afternoon the school will hold a ribbon cutting and open house.
Superintendent Jay Morrow says the project includes a new library and student commons area, plus renovations to the cafeteria and library.
"Our library-learning center will hopefully bring us farther into the 21st centry in terms of learning spaces, group learning spaces, and more technology available to our kids."
But just as important as the new and renovated space is a new and more secure main entrance to the school.
The work began a year ago and was completed on-time last month. And funding came from the school facilities sales tax approved by voters in Rock Island County in 2016.
