The provost and academic vice president at Western Illinois University has been promoted. On Monday, Martin Abraham officially began serving as Acting President of the university, until an interim president can be chosen.
Trustees approved Abraham's appointment as acting president at their meeting on June 14. And they're expected to discuss the next steps at a board retreat next week to appoint a longer-term interim president.
Before coming to Macomb, he served as a professor of civil, environmental, and chemical engineering at Youngstown State University since 2007. Previously, he was provost and vice president for academic affairs at Youngstown from 2015-2018.
