Phase 2 Assumption H.S. Sports Complex

Assumption High School
phase 2 of the sports complext at Assumption HS in Davenport

Assumption High School in Davenport is preparing to take the next step in its long effort to build its own sports facilities. Monday night, the board of directors approved spending nine million dollars for phase two of the St. Vincent's Center Athletic Complex.

School President Andy Craig says phase one was completed a couple of years ago, including a new softball field and practice fields, concession stand, and parking. Phase two will include a football and soccer field, with an all-weather track, bleachers, and a concession stand.

"We're currently renting the Brady Street Stadium so we have to pay right around $2,700 a game to rent that facility. So you know when you're playing 4-5 games a year.

"Not having a track is a big thing for us. If you know anything about our success - we have a very successful track program, never having a real track they could practice on."

Construction will start this summer and take up to one year to complete.

Assumption will share these facilities with St. Ambrose University.
