BHC Picks Interim President

Trustees of Black Hawk College have chosen an interim president who'll take over in January. On Thursday the board announced Doctor John Erwin will replace Bettie Truitt after she retires at the end of this month.

Most recently, Erwin served as interim president at Marion Technical College in Marion, Ohio. And previously served as president of Illinois Central College in East Peoria, from 2001 to 2015. Dr. Erwin has more than 30 years of administrative and instructional experience in higher education, mostly with community colleges.

He will lead the college while the board looks for a permanent replacement for Doctor Truitt.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
