Finalists For SCC President

Four finalists from four different states are in the running to be the next president of Scott Community College. Tuesday the college released their names, and a schedule for their visits to the campus and community forums.

On Thursday (4/27), Doctor Lyn Broderson will meet with faculty, staff, and local residents. She is Assistant Vice President of Organizational Development for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, in Ames.

The other finalists are:

- Doctor Kim Armstrong, Vice President of Student Affairs at College of the Ouachitas in Malvern, Arkansas (visiting 5/8),

- Doctor Albert Farr, Academic Chair of the Communications Department at Saint Petersburg College in Florida (visiting campus 5/9),

- and Doctor Angela Oriano, from Lee College in Baytown, Texas where she is Project Manager for the Gulf Coast Regional STEM Degree Accelerator program (5/10).

One of the four will succeed Doctor Teresa Paper who's retiring in June after five years as president.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
