A Moline attorney who has already served on the Western Illinois University Board may fill a vacancy. This morning, the governor appointed Steven Nelson from the law firm, Califf and Harper.  The vacancy was created in February, when Phil Hare resigned after serving four years.

Nelson first became a WIU trustee ten years ago, and her served for five years. And the attorney served as chair from 2008 through 2010.
In addition, Nelson has been on the WIU Foundation Board of Directors for 19 years,  including a couple of years as president.

Nelson graduated from Western in 1970, and earned his post-graduate degree at Drake University Law School. He's been practicing in Illinois and Iowa for nearly 40 years.

The Illinois Senate must confirm Nelson's appointment to the university's board of trustees.
