While dropping the cost of tuition next year, Western Illinois University might charge the same amount for room, board, and fees. Tomorrow, the board of trustees will discuss plans to give next fall's incoming students the same guaranteed price as this year.
WIU's cost guarantee program ensures that students pay the same rate for tuition, fees, meals, and housing all four years.
Spokeswoman Darcie Shinberger says the university was the first in Illinois to offer a Cost Guarantee program.
In December, Western's board approved a tuition decrease of three percent, starting next fall. Shinberger says that goes against the trend.
WIU's Board of Trustees meeting will be held tomorrow at 8am in Macomb. The board will also discuss student health insurance fees.
