Seven Candidates for One Seat

The ballot will be crowded next month when residents of the Davenport School District fill a vacancy on the board of education. By Friday's deadline, 7 people had filed their candidates papers.

They are: Clyde Ray Mayfield, Erika Kall, Andrew DeNoyer, Bruce Werning, Elaine Kresse, Megan Long, and Ileaser S. Parker-Tatum.

Residents of the Davenport School District may vote at any of the 8 Vote Centers, and the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday February 16th.

Eligible voters who have not registered can still register at the Vote Centers on the day of the election.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
