RI Schools Enrollment to Increase 2%

The number of students enrolled in Rock Island schools probably won't change much over the next five years. Tomorrow, the Board of Education will hear the chief financial officer's enrollment predictions.

By fall of 2021, Bob Beckwith expects the number of students to increase by about 120.

He says the 2% projected increase is considered stagnant. Currently, 6,320 students are enrolled in Rock Island public schools.

This projection won't affect state funding for the district. Beckwith says funding is more likely to change if daily attendance significantly increases or decreases.
