Laundromat in Davenport, Iowa with signs showing prices

Someone will help a group of Davenport families with their laundry. This month, Jefferson Elementary School received a washer and dryer from an anonymous donor.

Principal, Kamie Montoya, says many of the kids' families don't have enough money for weekly trips to the laundromat plus detergent.

And some parents wash their children's clothes but not their own.

We serve free breakfast to about 300 students, and all get the free breakfast and lunch.

All of the 480 students who attend Jefferson Elementary in Davenport qualify for free or reduced price lunches.

Montoya says the washer and dryer will be installed in the school's Family Involvement Room, but she's not sure when it will be ready to use.
