SAU Brings Back Marching Band

Saint Ambrose University

After a long absence, a tradition at Saint Ambrose University will be revived. Wednesday it announced the formation of a new Athletic Bands Program, with the goal of forming a marching band within several years.

Director of Bands, Nick Enz, says initially there'll probably be 30 to 40 students involved.

Eventually the marching band will have more than 100 members, and perform during home games and at other events.

Enz says music, and a marching band, are a good way to attract students to the university.

Saint Ambrose is already working with instrument companies to buy the drums, sousaphones, and other instruments needed for the new ensemble.

Following several weeks of sending out postcards and emails to publicize the new program, he says a "marching band visit day" will be held next month to start signing up potential band members
