It can't say how much, but Alleman Catholic High School in Rock Island has just received the largest gift in school history. The gift comes from the Richard W. McCarthy Charitable Trust, and will allow the school to implement its strategic plan - including the purchase of new technology, updated labs, teacher training, student aid, new courses, and physical improvements to the school.
Richard McCarthy worked as an attorney in Rock Island for many years. In 1997 he found the law firm of McCarthy, Callas, Fuhr & Ellison where he practiced law until his death in 2008.
He graduated from Saint Joseph's High School in Rock Island which later joined with Saint Mary's High School in Moline to form Alleman High School.
