Iowa QC School Board Results

With just a few races to be decided, only a few people bothered to turn out Tuesday for school board elections in Scott County. The auditor's office reports 36-hundred people cast ballots, or just 3 per cent of the more than 120,000 registered voters in the county.

In Bettendorf, one incumbent was re-elected to another term on the school board, but another was defeated. Paul Castro easily kept his seat, along with newcomers Michael Pyevich, Gordon Staley, and Stacey Struck.
Finishing 5th, in the competition for four seats, was incumbent Barry Anderson.

The only other contested races were for the Pleasant Valley School Board:
- in district 4, incumbent Scott Isbell was an easy winner over Darin Oberhart,
- and in district 5, Jodi Hoskins defeated incumbent Joseph Bullock.

Races were not contested for the Davenport and North Scott boards.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
