Nearly 20 years after helping IBM sell its building to Western Illinois University, a local real estate agent is trying to sell it again. This morning, David Levin, from NAI Ruhl Commercial Company announced the former WIU campus in Moline is on the market for 5.5 million dollars. The three story building is located on 60th Street, just north of John Deere Road.
New owners could use it for many purposes, and not just as a school. For example, Levin says it could be a hotel, senior center, or many other things. It's possible several tenants could lease space from an investor.

Levin and a colleague have already discussed the building with several corporate clients. And today, a couple of real estate developers took a tour with reporters. NAI Ruhl Commercial is talking with a couple of call centers and working with the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce to explore potential uses.
All the fixtures, furniture, and equipment left in the former WIU building will be included in the sale, plus the ten acre property with 200 parking spaces.
IBM built the 59,000 square foot building in 1970, then moved out in 1997. That's when Western and the State of Illinois bought it and moved the university from offices at Black Hawk College.
