Interim Supt. for Moline Schools

Moline School District

Two weeks after their superintendent announced his resignation, the Moline School Board has chosen a replacement. Monday night, the board chose the assistant superintendent for human resources, Lanty McGuire, to serve as interim superintendent.

Board president, Justin Anderson, says he'll serve for one year, starting July lst.
Anderson says the board will probably decide by the fall what process to use in finding a permanent superintendent.

We can look locally or hire a consultant to help with a national search.

McGuire replaces David Moyer who will begin working next month as superintendent for the Elmhurst School District, near Chicago.

McGuire has worked for the Moline schools for 20 years, teaching special education and as assistant superintendent.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
