Sherrard Teacher Arrested on Misdemeanor Charges

Warren County Sheriff, IL

Sherrard High School's agriculture teacher has been arrested and charged with battery. On Friday morning, the Rock Island County Sheriff issued a warrant for 32 year old Corey Terwilliger from Alexis.

Sheriff Gerry Bustos says on April 10th, a complaint was filed, and his department opened an investigation. Terwilliger has been charged with two counts of battery.
Terwilliger began teaching agriculture at Sherrard High School in 2008. He's also the FFA Advisor and Archery Club sponsor and coach.

Bustos says in Illinois, battery is a misdemeanor.

They students also filed a request in court to obtain order of no contact in an attempt to keep him away from them.

Sherrard Superintendent, Samuel Light, says he asked Terwilliger to take paid leave three weeks ago.
