Unemployment rose in the Quad Cities last month to 4.8 percent, compared to 4 percent in November of last year.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says in November, there were 10,700 fewer jobs in this area compared to a year ago.
The Quad Cities lost 24-hundred positions in professional and business services. Twenty-one-hundred jobs were lost in the government sector. Leisure and hospitality lost 15-hundred positions, while educational and health services and manufacturing each lost 12-hundred jobs.
The 4.8 percent jobless rate in the Quad Cities last month compares to the national rate of 6.4 percent, 6.5 for Illinois, and 3.6 per cent in Iowa.
