Lee Enterprises Year End Results

2019 was a "mixed" year for Lee Enterprises, owner of the Quad City Times and Dispatch-Argus. This week the company which is based in Davenport reported total revenue fell during the fiscal year that ended in September, but revenue and traffic rose for its digital services.

Overall, revenue dropped 6 per cent, to 510 million dollars. At the same time digital revenue rose 4.3 per cent, and accounted for 28 per cent of the total. Revenue from digital subscriptions jumped 43 per cent.

Lee also reports traffic to its online and app sites, as measured by page views per visit, went up 10 per cent.

In addition to the Times and Dispatch-Argus, Lee owns the Muscatine Journal, and provides news and information in a total of 50 markets across the country.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
