Help Boost Tourism in the QC

The local tourism agency wants to know what people think of the Quad Cities. Visit Quad Cities is asking residents and tourists to fill out an online survey.

President and CEO, Dave Herrell, says the bureau is developing a strategic plan with the help of a company named "Resonance."

"Their speciality, they’re futurists, so they are really good at identifying where communities need to head in the long term. So we’ve been working with them over the last couple of months. One of the key components, in phases, is a survey that goes to area residents and visitors of your destination to kind of gauge input and feedback on a variety of things as it relates to your market and destination.”

The survey takes around ten minutes to complete, and will ask if you are a resident or a visitor to the Quad Cities. The questions cover what people think of local museums, concerts, sports, transportation, and hotels.

Herrell says so far more than 15-hundred residents have completed the survey and 400 visitors.

“Definitely going to be something that’s going to add value to the community, but we definitely want a lot of people to give us their feedback. We can only get better if people are sharing their ideas and their thoughts with us.”

The next step after the survey results are analyzed will be a visioning workshop in early November. The survey is at QuadCitiesSurvey.com.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
