Instead of shovels, the I-H Mississippi Valley Credit Union used a large John Deere excavator Tuesday to break ground for its new headquarters. The 90,000 square foot building will be located on River Drive in Moline, near the WIU campus.
President and CEO, Brian Laufenberg says the credit union has experienced tremendous growth in recent years.
"Last year we put more than 600 million dollars to work in loans to our business members - that's a lot of impact in our communities and it's a lot of impact in people's lives. Our new headquarters will provide the much needed space and infrastructure to continue that investment."
And he hopes the new headquarters will help the Quad Cities recruit and retain new talent in the coming years.
Joining Laufenberg at the groundbreaking, and also trying her hand at operating the Deere excavator, was Moline Mayor Stephanie Acri.
The four story building will eventually have up to three hundred employees and collect in one location offices that the credit union now has in several locations around the Quad Cities.
