During the next three months, thousands of bowlers will give a welcome boost to the Quad Cities economy. The 100th Annual Iowa State USBC Bowling Tournament begins this weekend in Davenport.
According to the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau, between now and early May, 500 bowlers will compete each weekend for nearly 200,000 dollars in prizes. That adds up to 10,000 bowlers and an estimated 3 million dollar impact on the local economy.
They'll compete at Leisure Lanes on West 73rd Street, and Big River Bowl on Kimberly Road, both in Davenport.
The Quad Cities last hosted the Iowa State Bowling Championship in 2011, and competed with three other cities to host it this year.
