A formal agreement with Kraft Heinz to build a new plant tops the agenda Wednesday night for the Davenport city council. One month after holding a public hearing, aldermen could give their final approval.
The proposed development agreement requires Kraft Heinz to build a state-of-the-art food manufacturing plant on the north edge of the city, in the Eastern Iowa Industrial Center.
The $203 million plant would retain at least 475 full time jobs, with benefits.
The company also agrees to begin demolition of its current plant within a year and-a-half of the new plant "becoming fully operational."
Davenport agrees to rebate up to 10 million dollars in property taxes over 15 years, and to spend nearly 1.7 million dollars to build a new road to the plant, plus improve two others near the site - Slopertown Road and Enterprise Way.
