A long-held goal of city leaders in Rock Island will finally be realized in a couple of months. By April, a new grocery store will open downtown.
Tuesday Mayor Dennis Pauley announced, during his State of the City address, that Renaissance Rock Island signed a contract last week with Healthy Harvest Urban Farms to open a "Healthy Harvest" store featuring fresh produce and other grocery items.
The new Healthy Harvest store, with 4,000 square feet, will be located at 16-16 2nd Avenue, just west of Bennigan's bar and restaurant.
