Traffic Up at Dubuque Airport

Dubuque Regional Airport

2015 was a good year for the Dubuque Regional Airport. For the second year in a row, passenger traffic rose 7 per cent.

Airport manager, Robert Grierson, says nearly 37,000 people boarded American Airlines flights from Dubuque to Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
Even though the overall increase was 7 per cent, traffic jumped as much as 15 per cent during some months, last year.

For this year, Grierson is hoping for larger aircraft and more flights, and another increase in traffic.

Currently American Airlines offers three round trips per day between O'Hare in Chicago and Dubuque.

A new terminal is also under construction, and should be finished later this year.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
