Demolition may begin soon for an old hotel in downtown Davenport. Following months of delays, a wrecking ball is now parked at the former Howard Johnson's, at the foot of Government Bridge. 

Vacant since 2009, the hotel is supposed to be torn down to make way for a six-story office building - the developer is Riverwatch Place LLC.
