Deere and Company and the United Auto Workers union now have a new contract. Both sides announced Sunday that union members approved a new six-year labor agreement in weekend voting that covers facilities in three states.
The previous 6-year contract officially expired last Thursday, but on Friday the company and union announced they'd reached a tentative agreement.
They also both announced they would not disclose terms of the agreement, except its length. A statement from the union did say however, "The new agreement provides many improvements for UAW members which include compensation and working conditions, while giving Deere the necessary tools to grow its business."
The new contract covers about 10,000 hourly workers at Deere factories in Davenport, Ankeny, Dubuque, Ottumwa, and Waterloo in Iowa; East Moline, Moline, and Milan in Illinois; and Coffeyville, Kansas.
