Seven months after work began, a local landmark will celebrate the completion of its renovations. Thursday morning, Southpark Mall in Moline will hold a ribbon cutting, unveil a new play area, and feature entertainment and give-aways all day.
Last April, workers began demolishing the former Sears store and food court, eliminating about 250,000 square feet. Then updating began inside, and tenants were encouraged to remodel their stores.

Still to be completed are some outside landscaping and parking improvements. Planning is also underway on a new mall entrance - from John Deere Road.
Earlier this year, Southpark celebrated its 40th anniversary.
Thursday's ribbon cutting is set for 10 am.
