Power Lines Down, Roads Closed, and Thousands without Power

MidAmerican Energy

MidAmerican Energy reports that roughly 100,000 homes in the Quad Cities don't have power - nearly 50,000 on the Iowa side, compared to 52,000 homes on the Illinois side. Across the state, nearly 260,000 MidAmerican homes are without power.

The company urges customers to stay away from downed power lines, like the one on 38th street near Augustana College. In Bettendorf, Devils Glen Road is now closed from Crow Creek Road to 53rd Ave.

The City of Rock Island crews are currently out cleaning the roadways of debris, limbs, and trees. Starting next Monday, the city will send crews to pick up remaining trees and branches, but it warns that clearing the debris may take several weeks.

The storm has also taken out traffic lights across Rock Island county. The city says that once power has been restored, the traffic signals will return to operation.

To report any blocked roadways, call the Public Works Department at 309-732-2200.
