Illinois Quad Cities Libraries Reopen

After being closed for more than three months, libraries in the Illinois Quad Cities will reopen on Monday. Following the shutdown caused by the coronavirus, plans have been announced by Rock Island, Moline, and East Moline libraries.

Patrons will be required to wear masks and observe social distancing.  Kelly Giovanine from the Moline library encourages short visits.

"We're asking that people not linger any longer than they really need to, which is unfortunate because that's one of the attractions of a library. But at least for short term, we're asking that folks come in, browse for their items, check them out, and then leave."

Computers will be available by appointment and curbside pickup will also still be available.
Giovanine says the coffeeshop and friend's store at the Moline library will not open until the following Monday.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
