First Responders Honor Terry Engle

Village of Hampton

Police, sheriffs deputies, and other first responders will honor Hampton Police Chief Terry Engle on Thursday. They'll hold a procession of their vehicles past the Moline funeral home where his service will be held.

Engle died Saturday night in a one-vehicle crash while answering a call.

The First Responder Procession will be held at 11 am, following a private funeral at the Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory. The procession will begin in a parking lot at Black Hawk College, come down the hill to 38th Avenue, circle the parking lot at Esterdahl, and then leave, traveling west on 38th Avenue.

A formal public ceremony for Chief Engle will be held at a later date.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
