Anyone who wants to get ready for spring flooding can learn how on Saturday. The Scott County Emergency Management Agency, Davenport, and Buffalo will host "Leap into Flood Preparation" at Modern Woodmen Park. The resource fair is for property owners and others affected by flooding in the Quad Cities and surrounding areas.

Brian Payne, from the county Emergency Manangment Agency, says people will be able to get information and learn about available resources before spring flooding. For example, the Corps of Engineers will demonstrate sandbagging for flood protection, and FEMA will offer a virtual reality program for people to see what happens when it floods.

Those who attend can also look up inundation maps for Scott County addresses. Payne says they'll be able to see how the Mississippi River affects properties at various flood levels. Those maps are also available online HERE

Robin Dunn, from Davenport Public Works. says city staff will be on hand to answer questions about flood protection, permit application, flood insurance, and other information.

Other vendors and agencies at "Leap into Flood Preparation" include the Red Cross, National Weather Service, temporary flood protection companies, and restoration services. It'll run from 9 am until 2 pm on Saturday at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport.
