The new building at 100 Kirkwood Blvd. in Davenport.

The Salvation Army of the Quad Cities has a new home for its family services. The charitable organization will hold a ribbon cutting this morning at its new building in Davenport.

"The programs include the homeless prevention program, which provides rental assistance, utility assistance, and deposit assistance to families facing homelessness. Our shelter programs provide short-term shelter for families who are currently homeless. And then our rapid rehousing program where we work with landlords throughout the Quad Cities to help move homeless families into stable houses to get them into a stable home environment."

It will also be home to its case workers for the "Pathway of Hope" program which tries to address the root causes of poverty, and its local coordinator's office. The new location will have a community room as well, to host character building classes for adults trying to develop life skills.

The ribbon cutting will be held Thursday morning at 10 at the new Family Services building at 100 Kirkwood Boulevard in Davenport.
