A free two-day dental clinic is coming to the Quad Cities. The Iowa Mission of Mercy, or IMOM, will hold the clinic on September 20th and 21st at the RiverCenter in Davenport.

Since its inception 11 years ago, 14,000 people have received free dental care from IMOM across the state of Iowa: adding up to more than nine million dollars of care. IMOM Executive Director Laurie Traetow says anybody that needs the care is welcome.

"We don't ask any questions about income or whether or not they have insurance. Anybody is free to be seen. It's truly free care."

Dentists from across Iowa will provide cleaning, filling, and extraction services along with other procedures. The last time IMOM came to Davenport was in 2012, and around 1,000 people received treatment. Traetow expects that many people once again thanks to the help of about 1,000 volunteers over the two days.

"We have many patients who leave the clinic floor in tears because they're smiling and they haven't been able to smile for years. I remember one specific patient from last year that was just beside himself because he had a full set of teeth. [Volunteering] is really very rewarding."

The clinic will open at 6 a.m. on both days and will remain open until it has handled its quota for the day. Patients are encouraged to come early.
