Ben Butterworth Parkway Reopens

Moline Parks and Recreation Department

Just in time for the long, holiday weekend, the Ben Butterworth Parkway in Moline has re-opened. That's along the city's riverfront and River Drive, from 22nd to 55th Street.

But the Parks and Recreation Department cautions walkers and bike riders to stay on paved surfaces -  because there's still some mud, silt, and puddles along the riverfront left over from the flood.

The bathrooms, playground, and bike and pedestrian trail are all open again, and usable.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
