River Drive Has Reopened

Kyle Gripp, Alderman At-Large for the city of Davenport, talks to reporters.

There won't be any more "road closed" signs on River Drive for the forseeable future.
Davenport city officials and local business owners gathered Friday at the Freight House to announce River Drive's reopening after 98 days.

Kyle Gripp, Alderman At-Large, says the businesses effected by the flooding need support from the community now more than ever.

"We need our community to get down here and support these folks who have been negatively impacted by historic flooding over the past three months."

Kyle Carter, Executive Director of the Downtown Davenport Partnership, echoed that sentiment, urging locals to visit all of their favorite businesses.

"This community has been resilient. This community has been supportive. We could not be more thankful for all of the support we've seen so far but now we're moving into the next phase: which hopefully is more fun."

There is still much work to be done in recovery efforts around Davenport, such as the repairing of damaged roads, but city officials say this is a step in the right direction.
