Help for QC Flood Victims

WVIK News

Water and cleanup supplies will be available this week for people affected by continued flooding along the Mississippi River. The Red Cross will hand them out at three locations: the Campbell's Island Fire Station in East Moline, the Pleasant Valley Fire Station in Bettendorf, and Davenport's Mobile Police Precinct at Utah and South Concord Street.

Residents of Campbell's Island can pick up free bottled water and cleanup supplies from 3 to 6 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, plus Monday, Wednesday, and Friday next week.

Distribution for residents of Pleasant Valley and southwest Davenport will be from 3 to 6 pm Tuesday and Thursday, 9 am to 2 pm Saturday, and again next week on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
