Help the QC Botanical Center

QC Botanical Center

The Quad Cities Botanical Center is asking for our help. As it celebrates its 20th anniversary, it's asking local residents in a survey what should be the next building project.

Marketing Manager, Ryan Wille, says the three most popular choices so far are expanding the Children's Garden, adding on to the Atrium, and building an outdoor kitchen. But whichever one is chosen will help determine the future direction of the center.

"The atrium would probably attract more of your plant lovers, the Children's Garden would attract families, and the outdoor kitchen would attract, probably your young crowd - 20 to 35, who are interested in healthy cooking and eating."

Wille says the Botanical Center has received 600 responses to its survey so far, and once it reaches 1,000, they'll tally the results and turn them over to the board of directors.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
